Retail companies face daily management and logistics challenges that directly impact the development of projects. Broader visions, derived from strategies with more technology, are being applied as new solutions, such as the case of Carrefour Property, a business unit of the Carrefour Group.
To share a bit more about the case of the retail giant, the Director of Maintenance and Construction, Marcelo Poli, gave a lecture during the 5th edition of Retail Expansion, which took place in São Paulo. With extensive experience in engineering, logistics, and technology, the professional oversaw the management of the works for the merger of Carrefour and Big Groups, which resulted in a remote monitoring strategy, implemented with a specific technology for retail construction.
The lecture addressed the strategies used to manage multiple simultaneous works and techniques to reduce CAPEX, among the scenarios of challenges faced.
“We activated a Brazilian startup that has a monitoring system using a 360 camera. When placed in the desired space, it creates a layout of the work being executed, and thus we can follow the progress. I can view each project from a distance and only move when there are problems,” said Marcelo Poli about the adopted technology.
Through the 360° camera system, it is also possible to monitor executions and capture images, which are sent via the app to the cloud.
The monitoring system acts as a significant facilitator of logistics, as it makes it possible to reduce expenses and time on travels, especially for various works. The platform also serves as a help channel for employees and anyone else present at the site, who can remotely contact the management team.
