In order to improve the business environment of the construction sector, remove current barriers, and encourage companies to modernize, the Federal Government, through the Special Secretariat for Productivity and Competitiveness of the Ministry of Economy (Sepec/ME), launched on Tuesday (4/26) the Construa Brasil Project. The measure is the result of the celebration of the Cooperation Agreement between Sepec and the Santa Catarina Innovation Network (Recepeti).

The Construa Brasil project has nine goals and 31 sub-goals, with eight of them already in progress, structured around three pillars: Bureaucratization, Digitalization, and Industrialization of the Construction Sector. Among the developed products are the Guiding Guides for Best Practices for Works and Buildings Codes and for Best Practices for Obtaining Construction Permits, as well as EAD training courses in Building Information Modeling (BIM) in Brazil.

The Secretary of Industry, Trade, Services, and Innovation of Sepec/ME, Glenda Bezerra, pointed out that to bureaucratize, it is necessary to reduce the Brazil Cost and improve the regulatory stock – a priority agenda of the Special Secretariat. “To this end, several goals for standardization and simplification of works and buildings codes have been established, as well as improvements in the processes for granting construction permits,” she explained.

To keep up with technological transformations and digitalize the sector, the project has various goals to disseminate the use of BIM in Brazil. As for industrialization, the project aims to encourage modular coordination and the development of the sector.

During the event, the website of the Construa Brasil Project was also launched, where all products resulting from the established goals will be available, to provide transparency to the actions of the Ministry of Economy and other partners.

The chairman of the Santa Catarina Innovation Network, Noberto Dias, thanked for the opportunity to be part of the execution of such an important initiative for the country: “We believe that the project will generate more jobs and added value, economy and resources, reduced construction time, bureaucratization, and a significant scale gain concerning projects aimed at the government.”

Learn about the goals of the Construa Brasil Project and the developed products:

Convergence of Works and Buildings Codes (COE)

Improvement of the Construction Permit Granting Process

Disseminate BIM and its Benefits

Support Actions for Structuring the Public Sector for BIM Adoption

Create Favorable Conditions for Public and Private Investment in BIM

Encourage the Development and Application of New Technologies Related to BIM

Identify and Adapt the Technical Regulation to Incentivize Modular Coordination

Encouragement of Industrialized Construction

About BIM

BIM (Building Information Modeling) is the set of integrated technologies and processes that allows for the creation, use, and updating of digital models of a construction. It can be used throughout the construction life cycle – from project conception to post-construction monitoring and control – and is also viable for the management and maintenance of buildings and infrastructure works.

The use of BIM enhances many practices in the construction sector and brings various benefits such as reduced compatibility errors, optimized timelines, greater reliability of projects, more precise planning and control processes, increased productivity, reduced costs and risks, and savings on resources used in the works.
